Tell us about your role and what you enjoy about it.
I am the ISA Administrator at James Sharp & Co, which means that I handle all queries and administrative needs related to both ISAs and Junior ISAs. The accounts are set up, maintained, and reported on alongside strict HMRC rules and one of my jobs is making sure the rules aren’t breached. I also transfer ISAs in from other providers and occasionally transfer them out. The rules and regulations used to be fairly inactive, but now they change annually and part of my job is to keep updated on the changes. I enjoy the variety in my role. In one day I can have a dozen or so different tasks to deal with, which keeps it challenging and interesting. Everyone I work with, both clients and colleagues are lovely. I couldn’t work with a nicer group of people.
What changes have you seen during your time at James Sharp?
I joined James Sharp & Co 17 years ago during the dot-com bubble years and things have changed hugely since then. In particular, there have been drastic changes in the areas surrounding Compliance, which means all aspects of our business are now conducted in a more ridged and regulatory environment.
What is the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
Some of the best advice I’ve ever been given was often spouted by my Grandad when I was a little girl. One particular piece of advice that sticks in my mind is: “There’s no such thing as can’t!”
James Sharp's offices have wonderful panoramic views of Bury – what's your favourite part?
As a Ramsbottom lass, born and bred, the best view has to be the one of Holcombe Hill with Peel Tower on top. It’s also the landmark that leads me home each day!
Name three things you can't live without.
This is an easy one: My family, my holidays and red wine!
