Oliver Stanton joined James Sharp's Compliance Support team in 2012 after studying linguistics at Lancaster University. He now supports the compliance team on statutory issues such as the anti-money laundering directives. He is currently studying towards chartered status with the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments.
Tell us about your role at James Sharp.
My role is very varied. I work within compliance on numerous issues from anti-money laundering and policy writing to client trade suitability and even website content. My role covers areas involving FATCA legislation, MiFID legislation, AML issues, CASS and COBs rules; the list goes on!
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love the diversity of my role, every day is different and brings new challenges. I've always been a keen learner and due to the ubiquitous nature of compliance within every part of the company, I am able to learn a great deal about large areas of the business.
What's the best piece of advice you've been given?

James Sharp's offices have wonderful panoramic views of Bury – what's your favourite part?
The views are cracking on a clear sunny day, just a shame that clear sunny days in Bury are incredibly rare!
